I NEED YOUR HELP!
The goal of this course is to unlock the natural creative genius inside you. To do that I need your help! This course is constantly evolving based on your feedback and input. My student Corey is shown here. He's a Neoclassical shred lord that's helped shaped the way I teach. If there's a lesson you wish existed but doesn't, this is your chance to summon it into reality. You gotta hear Corey's track "Liberate the Labyrinth." This track will bend reality and take you on a ride to the underworld!

GUITAR GOD SHORTCUT
I don't give a F#$k about music theory. It's just a tool to make the ideas in your head real. In this course I condensed 2 years of college music theory into 4 hrs. No bull sh!t, just the fastest path to unlock your musical power. Inside the course I reveal the secret trick to memorizing scales, chords and keys. It's actually not even hard if you make a simple mindset change. The goal is to play over anything instantly, eliminate writers block and become a master of the fretboard. Play along tabs for every example, guitar pro files to customize your practice sessions. Test your knowledge with my quizzes for each module. You can even hit me up with questions if you get stuck!

IS THEORY ROCKET SCIENCE?
The truth is, Music theory doesn’t have to be confusing. You’ve probably seen the memes saying it’s more complicated than rocket science. This is FALSE! When I first heard about theory from a fellow guitarist at age 15, he said I'd never get it! Just to spite him, I decided to attend music school and conquer my fears. With a year of self study beforehand, I was able to barely pass the entrance exam at Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles. I spent five years there, taking every class I could in composition, theory, orchestration, arranging and practical musicianship. I was forced to do terrifying things like sing music I’d never seen before in front of the entire class. I've never been so embarrassed in my entire life! The professor and I would literally fight in front of the entire class. Good news was it ignited extreme musical growth. I was so hungry for knowledge, I played guitar in the orchestra, sang in the choir and jammed with lots of musicians to sharpen my skills.
HOW IT WORKS
Students will receive a composer's toolkit for each class. The toolkit contains the scale, chord progression and counterpoint phrase to inspire riff ideas. This unique approach helps you learn composition like a language. The scale is equivalent to an alphabet, providing the letters of our musical language. The chords are like words, formed by combining notes from scales. Finally, counterpoint pairs the scale and chords, establishing a complete musical sentence. Instead of waiting for inspiration to strike, now we have a reliable formula to deliver creative results anytime!

WAY OF THE SAMURAI
In this challenge, you'll compose a Japanese riff using the Hirajoshi scale. A lone samurai stands in the shadows of Mount Fuji. Guitar in hand, each powerful strum resonates through the bamboo forest. The five notes of the pentatonic scale signify courage, integrity, benevolence, respect and honor. Rise to the challenge and wield your instrument like the Samurai’s blade to pass the test!

RECORDING YOUR MUSIC
One of the most powerful aspects of this course is recording. It's one thing to write a great riff but that doesn't mean you can bring it to life. For the modern musician, the DAW, or digital audio workstation is like a second instrument. I use logic pro to demonstrate programming drums, bass, keyboards, double tracking guitars, using the stereo field, mixing and mastering. Don't worry, we'll go slow and take our time. If you're not familiar with using a DAW, I just want to get you used to the idea first. The truth is, no one's going to hear what's in your head. You have to make it a reality with modern tools
ABOUT ME
My name is Scott...better known as SHRED on YouTube. I've been teaching for over 20 years and written hundreds of songs. I picked up the guitar at age 12 after seeing Metallica play on MTV. Soon after I joined my first band. Problem was, my solos sucked so bad they kicked me out! For years I was stuck in the pentatonic box, unable to access the sounds in my head. In 2001 I signed up for music school in Los Angeles. It was there I learned about the exotic scales players like Marty Friedman used. For me, these colorful tones expressed something special regular scales couldn't. Over the years I've played in many bands, worked as a studio musician and finally settled on social media. Nothing inspires me more than seeing students remove their creative barriers. My unique approach to composition and theory takes you beyond guitar playing. It just costs your soul muhahaha!
